The Association of Hungarian Chemists (MKE) was established in 1907 under the leadership of Rudolf Fabinyi. Their program was to promote the development of chemical science and the chemical industry, which has not essentially changed since then. Over the decades, departments, plant and regional organizations were continuously formed, which now cover the entire spectrum of the chemical industry. One of these is the Cosmetic and Household Chemicals Company, which was founded in 1971.
The organization, then created as a department, was created by the managers of the most significant company in the Hungarian cosmetics industry, the Cosmetic and Household Chemicals Society. The first president of the Department was Dr. Jenő Szabó, while its secretary was Károly Losonczi. The post of president was later taken over by György Baktay, while the duties of secretary were taken over by Gábor Endrődy and then by Dr. János Pálinkás. From 1990, the presidency was held by Dr. János Pálinkás as president, Dr. Sándor Szirmai as secretary, and Dr. György Hangay as scientific secretary. From 2007, Dr. Sándor Szirmai took over the position of president, and Dr. János Pálinkás received the title of honorary hereditary president.
Until 1986, the management of the Department organized company symposia and speaker meetings. The first major scientific organization in 1987 was the 1st International Cosmetic and Household Chemical Congress in Budapest. 58 lectures and 46 posters were presented in three sections. Since this is already a historical perspective, we list the organizers and sponsors of the congress as a matter of interest, and out of respect for the organizers and speakers.

After the first highly successful international event, conferences and symposia covering many daily and interesting topics of the cosmetics industry, cosmetology, dermatology, household chemicals, and packaging development were held every year. From the beginning, we have found a significant number of foreign participants among the speakers.
June 6-8, 1990 II. International Cosmetics and Household Chemicals Congress and Exhibition in Budapest at the Congress Center, in cooperation with the Department of Chemical Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Food Science Association. The highlight of the congress was the presentation of Béla Vízi's sculptures with special chemical objects.
We join the largest international cosmetic society, IFSCC (International Federation Societies of Cosmetic Chemists).

III. International Congress of Cosmetics and Household Chemicals
April 1997 14-16 IV. International Cosmetics and Household Chemicals Congress together with the IFSCC International Conference entitled Cosmetics-Pearl of Natural Science. At the same time as the congress, we participated in the World Cosmetics Toiletries and Household Chemicals Industrial Exhibition organized by IFSCC. A special highlight of the congress was the exhibition of silk collages by the graphic artist Izolda Macskássy.
Cosmetics 2001 Scientific Symposium at the Hungarian Culture Foundation Headquarters
Nov 6-7, 2004 We took part in the VI. At the Vital World exhibition, where we organized a scientific symposium on the topic of European horizons in domestic cosmetics.
